Arsenal legend doubts Fabregas will remain a Gunner

|

Wenger knows that he will face a tough battle to keep Fabregas at the club this summer, but Thiago could be a ready-made and relatively cheap replacement for the 24-year-old Spaniard.

Thiago is due to play in the Under-20 World Cup for Spain in late July, and looked better than any of the English youngsters when he starred against them at the under-20 European Championship last summer.

The gifted Spaniard, son of former Brazil and Barcelona star Mazinho, would probably hate leaving the club he loves, but he may have to further his development as a player. As we all know Wenger is renowned for developing young talent into world-class stars, and as Spanish reports suggest, Thiago, who was awarded the man of the match against Malaga in the last game of the season, had talks with Wenger during Barcelona’s trip to London for the Champions League final.

I personally think they’ll need to table an offer up to £50m to acquire Cesc this summer. I’d only take £30 million if they were going to throw in Thiago and Bojan, but that is quite unrealistic isn’t it.

It will be such a shame to lose Cesc, but I think he feels his time has come to an end at Arsenal – You can tell he misses his home.

It will undoubtedly be a major blow for the Gunners to see their club captain leave, but it has happened before. Patrick Vieira moved onto Juventus, which evidently, made way for Cesc Fabregas to shine through. However, if Cesc does decide to leave and we get Thiago in his place, we will still need to sign a midfielder who has experience, and could fill Fabregas’ boots straightaway.
