These days, where even the best contracts don’t guarantee commitment, RVP’s love for Arsenal is refreshing to see. You don’t see too many players these days committed to one club. Robin is in the mould of Gerrard, Scholes, Xavi, Puyol and Giggs, all of whom are dedicated and love their club. They will not only be remembered for their football, but also for the fantastic commitment they had for their respective clubs.
Arsenal have regularly been criticised for lack of commitment. Whilst the futures of Fabregas, Nasri and Clichy hang in the balance, Robin remains focused on next season’s campaign.
As I once read a blogger say, his determination and commitment has to seep through his team-mates, some of whom give up far too easily in my view.
Arsenal are having to deal with several players wanting to leave in search of trophies, but there has never been a question of RVP parting ways with the Gunners. He is a true Gunner.
From a man with a reputation for making trouble to the most loved Gunner since Thierry Henry, Van Persie’s rise has been successful in spite of injuries.
Wenger too has to be lauded for sticking with him and believing in him. Very few would have had the patience to deal with his constant injuries, but the Frenchman knew whom he was backing – A man with passion, love, dedication and commitment.
I sincerely hope the younger crop of Arsenal players (Wilshere, Ramsey, Szczsney, Walcott and so forth) have the same belief in Arsenal as RVP does, because we certainly do need them.
