The most frustrating religion: Emirates FC – Part 2!

|

I woke up on Monday morning and things were back to the same as they have been since the Birmingham City defeat at Wembley. A knot in my stomach. An overriding feeling of tension and frustration. It was a feeling I had hoped I’d forgotten and was not overjoyed it had returned.

To me, last Sunday again proved it all. It proved why being a Gooner is the most frustrating religion of all…again!

This is the team that convincingly beat Man United, Chelsea and Barça but have lost to Stoke, Newcastle and West Brom.

We may have the most technically gifted midfield, but when teams engage the ‘up n at em’ tactic we seem to fold.

We can score the most sublime goals from a 20 pass build up, but if a team parks the bus we run out of ideas.

Our players can turn a game on it’s head with moments of true brilliance, but too often some of the big names just don’t turn up.

We can silence a crowd in seconds, but if the opposition fans get their voice we can disappear and hide.

It’s days like last Sunday which make you worry for the future of players like Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri, who, if the team around them isn’t up to scratch, do you really blame them for considering a move?

Arsene Wenger needs to take along hard look at the squad and decide who are Arsenal players and who are not worthy of being one.

Wenger needs to look at the tactics and needs to find that illusive plan B.

Wenger needs to install confidence in the team and the fans.

Wenger needs to find some experience and strength in defence.

Wenger needs to find some support for RVP up front.

Wenger needs to show that ‘Project Youth’ can/does work.

The victory over Man United proves Arsene knows what he is doing; the loss to Stoke proves it doesn’t always work!!!

  • Plastic says:

Wenger definately needs to buys some players and get rid of the deadwood at the club. We need to bring in top quality players and players with experience for us to stand a chance of winning trophies next season .
