Mohamed El-Gabbas – ‘My dream is to go to Arsenal’

|

Egyptian forward Mohamed El-Gabbas has revealed his ‘dream’ to one day play for Arsenal, according to talkSPORT.

The 23-year-old, who currently plays for Lierse S.K, bagged three goals in his last three appearances for the Belgium outfit which helped the club avoid relegation. His overall record this season currently stands at 4 goals in 28 appearances for the Belgium First Division side.

El-Gabbas, also known as ‘Doody’, spent time in England in 2005 when he was apart of Newcastle’s youth set-up as a 17-year-old, but due to a number of work permit issues, the striker was forced to return to his native Egypt.

However, The Egyptian international would love another crack at the Premier League and has set his sights on playing under the management of Arsene Wenger in the future. El-Gabbas told Belgian newspaper, HLN, of his desire to one day play for the Gunners:

‘At 17 I was involved with Newcastle and learnt much about professional football. I had to return to Egypt because I couldn’t obtain a work license but my goal is to play in the Premier League again – my dream is to go to Arsenal.’

Whilst a move to the Gunners maybe El-Gabbas’ dream in the future, I highly doubt that Arsenal’s is to land him. Unfortunately dreams very rarely come true, and for Mohamed El-Gabbas, as harsh as it may seem, I simply can’t see his one becoming a reality.

That’s one I haven’t heard before. Hadn’t heard of this guy at all. 4 in 28 as well? If Bendtner goes (only striker I really see leaving) I’d expect a bigger name to come in after this season. Don’t forget Vela’s doing alright at WBA as well. Don’t really see it happening.

Sorry El-Gabbas but for the time being I think he has no chance of playing for Arsenal. 4 goals in 28 games, so basically 1 goal in 7 games, not good enough and not Arsenal standards.

El-Gabbas said – At 17 I was involved with Newcastle but they wanted something in return, I have heard that at Arsenal, if Wenger likes yo,u you are guaranteed a fat pay cheque and at least 2 years of the funny frenchmans unbending support wether you play or not!
