Chelsea ponder summer move for out-of-favour Gunner

|

Chelsea are reportedly in the market for Arsenal’s Andrey Arshavin this summer, according to the Daily Star.

It is thought that Arsene Wenger has become increasingly frustrated with Arshavin’s inconsistent form and lacklustre performances for the Gunners this season, and the Arsenal boss could be willing to listen to offers for the Russian international’s services during the summer break.

Chelsea’s billionaire owner, Roman Abramovich, is known to be a keen admirer and friend of the 29-year-old, and is said to have put aside an £80 million war chest to recruit new talent this summer, with Arshavin believed to be on the wish list. A club source said:

‘Both Arsene and Andrey are frustrated but for differing reasons. For the manager it’s a case of seeing a player perform below his capacity and for the player there is dissatisfaction at not playing so regularly.’

The Arsenal winger, who has netted 10 goals in 51 appearances for the Gunners this season, is also wanted by former club Zenit St. Petersburg.

Although I think Arshavin is a great player, I am starting to believe that his time at Arsenal is probably coming to an end. However, I highly doubt that the club would sell the Russian to their London rivals, no matter the amount; then again, stranger things have happened during the transfer window.

If Wenger is indeed looking to sell Arshavin, then I truly believe that he should be pushing him towards a move back to Zenit, just so that he doesn’t come back to haunt us in the future.

Would you sell Arshavin to Chelsea this summer? Or would you keep him at Arsenal?

Let him go to whoever pays us the most. On his day he is amazing, but we havent seen that side of him for a long time, and is to lazy to fit into the Arsenal system. He needs to play behind the striker to get the best out fo him and Wenger is not willing to do that.

As long as Chelski offer us £5 mil more then Zennit offer us then let them have him. We can buy better and let Chelski worry about keeping him happy.

A deal that would be attractive IMO, would involve a swap for Drogba who must be fed up with playing second string to Torres. Always provided we could afford his wages.

I think he is a great player when he shows it, but unfortunately this season he has not shown enough. I think we should sell him to the highest bidder, whoever that may be.
