The only problem that the Gunners would face, if they do land Benzema of course, would be their current formation. The system wouldn’t accommodate Van Persie or Benzema in their preferred roles, and unless Wenger is willing to alter this then it would be pointless to splash £20 million on a world-class striker who would probably spend most of his time on the bench.
Karim Benzema has managed to net 25 goals in 45 appearances for Real Madrid this season, which is not a bad return at all in his current situation.
I truly hope this Benzema transfer ensues with Bendtner also leaving the club this summer. I have been calling for Arsenal to sign the French striker since his days at Lyon, and truly believe he is one of the finest finishers in world football today.
I honestly believe Arsenal lack a goal-machine amongst their ranks (just my opinion of course), and whilst Robin van Persie has stepped up to the plate this season, I do not see the Dutchman as a future centre-forward but more of a second striker like Dennis Bergkamp was at the North London club.
he current formation would be the biggest stumbling block we’d have to deal with if we landed Benzema. However, if Cesc Fabregas was to leave Arsenal this summer, then Wenger could possibly push Van Persie back into Fabregas’ position and play Benzema solely up-front (just a thought of course).
Nonetheless, I certainly hope Wenger does everything within his powers to sign the Real Madrid forward this summer, as he could potentially make a huge difference to the club’s fortunes in seasons to come.

Remember the invincibles ? How much did it cost to put that little lot together. Its nice to bring through youth players but Arsene needs to realise that they are not all going to be great no matter how good there playing at 16 – 17 years old. Hopefully Stan gets control and clears the debt and we can use the profit from the club to pay decent players wages without bankrupting us.
