Should Arsenal attempt to sign this young Barcelona striker?

As we close in on another disappointing season, transfer rumors will take centre stage throughout the course of the summer.

Players who have impressed this season will undoubtedly be chased by the elite clubs around Europe, while other teams will be looking to snap up deals in order to help them progress and achieve their goals next season.

For a club like Arsenal, whose season has faded away in the past month or so, there is a need for some positive moves to ensure this does not happen again.

The Gunners have been linked with a whole host of players in order to strengthen their squad for next season’s campaign. But it’s become apparent that the main priorities this summer for the North London club are to acquire a strong centre-back and an alternative striking option, or partner, for Robin van Persie.

Rumors have now surfaced that both Arsenal and Liverpool are monitoring Barcelona striker Bojan Krkic. A lack of opportunities in a star-studded line-up has prevented the 20-year-old from growing into a major player at the Camp Nou, which could see him make a move this summer.

Since his breakthrough at Barca at the age of 16, Bojan has managed to start just 38 matches in La Liga since 2007. The young Spaniard has been second choice behind the likes of Samuel Eto’o and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the past, and is now currently behind David Villa, Lionel Messi and Pedro in the pecking order. So a move away from Camp Nou in search for first-team football looks highly likely for the Spaniard. This has gained further ground with reports emerging that Barcelona are ready to sell their young striker if they receive a healthy offer during the summer window. This comes as no surprise given the difficult financial situation at the Catalan club. They also probably need to raise the transfer funds in order to complete their long pursuit of Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas.
