Petr Cech states Arsenal have ‘thrown the title away’…is he right?

|

These days everything seems to be stacked up against Arsenal, and I do mean everything.

Luck has once again abandoned us – on our home ground, at White Hart Lane, and above all that, Chelsea have shoved us down into third place, which has left their goalkeeper openly criticizing and denying Arsenal’s chances of winning the title this season.

In the Daily Telegraph today, Petr Cech claimed that Arsenal have ‘thrown away’ their chances of seizing the title. The Czech said:

‘They were 3-1 up and they threw it away. Now they are third for the first time in a long time, so let’s see how they cope with this situation.’

He continued:

‘They’ve had plenty of chances to close the gap this season. They haven’t taken them yet.’

Agreed, we have dropped far too many easy and valuable points over the course of the season. I certainly don’t need to remind all you Gooners out there about that. We didn’t take advantage of the leads we had in games. But in spite of all the misfortunate events that have befallen us this season, we are managing to make it into the top four…oh wait, we are BARELY managing.

Arsene Wenger had also stated that it’s even harder this year to reserve ourselves a top four spot in the Premier League. But all hope is not lost. Well, for Bacary Sagna it isn’t.

The optimistic Gunner thinks that our chances of winning the league is still alive and our moral might be rejuvenated if we beat Manchester United. He told Arsenal.com:

‘We think about our team, we don’t want to focus on the other teams.’

The Frenchman continued:

‘We have to play each other so it will be a good game for us. We just need to focus on our team and win.’

We truly are in a dark place right now. But let’s take what Sagna has said and look at the brighter side of things. Personally, I will admit that I’ve pretty much given up on the season. However, if the players haven’t given up on it yet, then it would be shameful for us to lower our voices.

Yes, we only have a couple of games left, but it’s still possible. Instead of listening to cocky Chelsea boy Cech, we should concentrate on giving our team the support it requires until the finale of the season.

I agree I think Arsenal have blown it this season, how many chances were Arsenal given to close the gap on Man Utd but we couldn’t take advantage of it. It’s so frustrating because if Wenger had bought in some players who were strong mentally and physically, Arsenal would have won the league. Oh well, that didn’t happen and it looks like another season without a trophy. Well done Wenger.
