Have we seen the last of Emmanuel Eboue?

|

Has Emmanuel Eboue taken a step closer to an Arsenal exit after Sunday’s penalty blunder?

The Ivorian has already been tipped to be one of many Arsenal players who will be offloaded during the summer, and after his latest gaffe, which cost the Gunners two valuable points in the title race, it appears to have sealed Eboue’s fate.

Arsene Wenger backed the 27-year-old after the incident but the Frenchman’s patience seems to be wearing thin. Not one Arsenal player went over to the referee to complain about the decision, and more importantly, not one of them went over to console the Ivory Coast international after the game.

I love Eboue (who doesn’t?), but when he conceded that penalty in the 102nd minute, honestly, it cut me deep. His error was presumed to be the fatal one which would have cost the Gunners the Premier League title this season. However, It seems the Ivorian, and more importantly, Arsenal, have been thrown yet another lifeline after United dropped two points against Newcastle at St. James Park last night. A win against Spurs tonight is a must, a draw simply wont do.

Anyway back to Eboue. Would I sell him following his latest clanger? No. We shouldn’t just point the finger of blame at the enthusiastic full-back. Fact is we have committed a number of atrocious mistakes prior to his one, both in league and cup competitions this season.

Should he be on Arsenal’s summer transfer list? I don’t think so. The Ivorian may not be a regular in the Arsenal line-up, but he is a player who certainly keeps spirits high within the dressing room. He is a favourite amongst the fans, and a player that gives his all for the Gunners which is great to see.

Regardless of his mistake, I certainly hope that Sunday wasn’t the last time we saw Emmanuel Eboue in Arsenal colours.

I hope we haven’t because he is a good player and looks like he keeps the moral high in the squad. I think personally he is better then Sagna.
