Mesut Ozil believes that Bayern Munich are a far more vulnerable outfit under Carlo Ancelotti this season.

The German champions have only lost one league game under the Italian but they have already lost twice in the Champions League this season, against Atletico Madrid, and in a surprise away loss to Russian side FC Rostov in the group stages.

Arsenal face Bayern once more in the last 16 of the competition in matches at the Allianz Arena on the 15th February and again at the Emirates on the 7th March.

Speaking to German football magazine Kicker (translated by the Evening Standard), Ozil believes that Bayern can be got at and the Gunners can take advantage:

“Bayern are one of the favourites, in recent years they have played outstanding football. This season, they have become more vulnerable. They are not unbeatable – especially this year.”

The Gunners have failed to get past Bayern both times they faced the German side in the past five years in the knockout rounds. Gunners fans will be hoping that Bayern’s recent travails away from home in European competition will help them in the return leg at the Emirates.
