This may not go down well with the Arsenal faithful

Arsene Wenger has explained what he will do in January in terms of transfer business – and that’s not a great deal.

The Gunners have been linked with countless amounts of players in all different positions in the lead up to the January transfer window which opens in just over a weeks’ time.

However, Wenger appears happy with what he has to work with for the remainder of the season and has somewhat dismissed the idea of bringing in any new recruits in the upcoming month:

‘Of course, because we have [Lucas] Perez, [Olivier] Giroud, [Danny] Welbeck, [Theo] Walcott, [Alex] Oxlade-Chamberlain and we have plenty of options offensively,’ Wenger said at his Friday press conference.

‘Defensively, we are not in the need at the moment.’

The Frenchman followed up by explaining the benefits of Aaron Ramsey’s return to the first-team having been injured for the majority of the current campaign:

‘Ramsey’s back and you know his strengths. He’s efficient offensively, has a high level of activity and is a complete box-to-box player gives us options in the team when he plays.’

Wenger finished off by saying Ramsey’s reintroduction to the squad is like a new signing:

‘He’s played only two full games since start of last season. It’s not too premature. He had some setbacks but hopefully he will be alright this time.’

The suggestions made by Wenger about his plans for January will not go down well with some of the Emirates faithful. Yes, we do have a good amount of attacking options, but are they good enough to deliver the goods? I’m not too sure about that. Defensively, we could do with another full-back coming in as well as possibly a centre-back, just in case the likes of Laurent Koscielny, Hector Bellerin or Shkodran Mustafi pick up a long-term injury. And, as for the return of Ramsey like being a new signing, do me a favour Wenger.

Arsenal need to strengthen in some areas of the squad as I’ve suggested in the previous paragraph if they are too seriously mount a title challenge, as we are currently not good enough too. Perhaps Wenger is reluctant to buy in January because he may be off at the end of the season? I don’t know, but if it is to be his last season in charge, go out with a bang and give the fans what they want – don’t let January be another pointless month for us fans because we deserve better.
