According to reports from Here Is The City, Arsenal have made contact with Sporting Lisbon regarding a potential transfer deal for Islam Slimani.
The 6 foot 2 striker was in lethal form for the Portuguese outfit last season, notching up 31 goals across all competitions and finishing as the second-top scorer in the Primeira Liga.
The Gunners have been searching for added firepower this summer, but reportedly ‘baulked‘ at deals for their other strike targets.
Slimani appears to be seen as a cheaper alternative, with the Gunners willing to pay more than £25million to sign the Algeria front-man, who boasts 23 goals at international level.
That may not be enough to convince Sporting to sell; they reportedly value the 28-year-old at £30million.
But if there’s one thing working in the north London outfit’s favour, it’s that Slimani has reportedly informed the club of his desire to move to the Premier League.
