Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina is trying to convince international team-mate James Rodriguez to leave Real Madrid and move to the Emirates Stadium, according to Spanish newspaper AS.

The Gunners are in the market for new recruits ahead of the summer transfer window closing and have been linked consistently with the former Porto and Monaco attacking midfielder.

While reports in Spain have suggested that Rodriguez is ready to commit to the Santiago Bernabeu club and fight for a role in Zinedine Zidane’s first team, Ospina is said to have spoken to the playmaker about the North London club.

Chelsea are also believed to be in the running to land the South American ace, who moved to the Spanish capital following superstar showings at the World Cup in Brazil two years ago.

Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are ahead of Rodriguez in the midfield pecking order at Madrid, while Casemiro, Mateo Kovacic and Isco are also in contention for a Los Blancos starting position.
