Arsene Wenger did drop a hint last month that Arsenal will be active during the January transfer window, and you will be delighted to hear that the Frenchman now expects to be ‘busy’ in the upcoming month as he looks to recruit players who can help Arsenal’s title challenge.
The Gunners finish the year off at the summit of the Premier League, even if only by goal difference, which bodes well for us if you look at the history books (whoever sits top of the league going into the new year are usually crowned champions).
The January transfer window will open on Friday but many Arsenal fans would not have looked forward to it as Wenger usually doesn’t do business during the winter, leaving any potential transfer dealings til’ the summer.
However, god news fellow Gooners, Wenger is ready to get involved in the upcoming month, with the Frenchman ready to add new faces to the squad to accommodate the losses of Santi Cazorla, Danny Welbeck, Jack Wilshere, Francis Coquelin – all of whom are expcted t be back from their injuries sometime in February.
When asked whether he would be active during the winter window, Wenger said:
‘I’ll be busy, that’s for sure.
‘I’m already busy and I said already one month ago we are a bit short to deal with all the competitions we face, especially in midfield. We will be busy, yes.’
Simply put, this is music to our ears. We have a major shot of winning this Premier League title and Wenger sees this.
Who we sign is another matter, but it’s encouraging and pleasing to hear that Wenger is prepared to make things happen during the January transfer window in order to hopefully win our first Premier League title since 2004.
