Has Wenger done all his summer dealings already?

Wenger11 days into the summer transfer window and Arsenal have so far managed to acquire the services of Petr Cech from Chelsea for just under £11 million.

The signing of the Czech goalkeeper was seen by many of the Emirates faithful to be the catalyst of things to come this summer, and although the Gunners have been linked with a number of top players already, we are yet to see any concrete evidence that we are close to bringing any.

And Arsene Wenger’s latest comments on potential transfers this summer may receive mixed reviews from the fans, with the Frenchman insisting he will only add top quality signings to the squad.

Wenger has changed his transfer policy in the last two summers, making big money moves for Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez for a combined £75 million, as well as signing Danny Welbeck, Mathieu Debuchy and Calum Chambers last summer.

But whilst Wenger wants to add only the very best to his Arsenal side, the Frenchman wants to get as much out of his current crop as possible, thus hinting it could be a more subdued window for the Gunners this summer:

‘If we can still add some quality, we will do it.

‘We lost (Mesut) Ozil and (Olivier) Giroud for long periods last year and they contributed a lot in the second half of the season. Let’s hope all these players will be fit and available.

‘The best way to strengthen other areas of the team is to get the players who did not play a lot last year and keep them fit.’

There are certainly some areas that need strengthening but only the best players in these positions will do if we are to challenge for the Premier League title this season.

Wenger has said this in the past and look who he’s brought in in the past couple of transfer windows. I hope it’s the same this time around.
