Arsenal are ready to offer Atletico Madrid £26 million for Mario Mandzukic before the transfer deadline day.
The 28-year-old Croat made the move to Spain from Bayern Munich last summer but the arrival of Fernando Torres has seen the striker drop down the pecking order at the Vicente Calderon.
Reports in Spain, as claimed by the Daily Express, no suggest Diego Simeone could look to offload Mandzukic to either Arsenal or Manchester City before the transfer window closes.
Arsenal have been linked with a move in the Croatia international in the past and with Arsene Wenger already bringing in two new players, the Frenchman could rekindle his interest in Mandzukic as he continues to strengthen his squad.
It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will table a bid for the Atletico forward, but the Gunners have the upper hand on City as they could offer him more first-team opportunities than at the Etihad. In addition, it is uncertain whether £26 million would be enough for Atletico to sell a player they purchased last summer for just over £19 million.
Will Arsenal be able to pull this potential deal off before the window shuts on Monday? More importantly, would he be a welcomed addition to the team?

Pls Mr Wenger get me Suarez. Mazuski can do the job too. Plssss do it now thanks.
Mandzukic would be a welcome addition to the team but don’t see that happening. Suarez is out of question. Don’t see any new buys until July. After all Wenger had a budget of 20 ml pounds & that’s exhausted already .
We loan out podolski sanogo and Campbell but as per usual no one will come in it just doesn’t make any sense
Yes I would luv him to bring in mandzukic as d team do well in terms of competition for d starting spot
