PREVIOUS MEETING

September 20, 2014 (Premier League)

Aston Villa 0 – 3 Arsenal (Ozil 32, Welbeck 34, Cissokho 36 OG)

This was Arsenal’s first away win of the season. Mesut Ozil opened the scoring in the 32nd minute after latching on to a Danny Welbeck cross. Having just scored, two minutes later, the creative German added to his assist tally by squaring the ball to Welbeck who tucked home his first Arsenal goal.

Villa struggled to get back into the game and the game was pretty much put to bed after the 36th minute. Kieran Gibbs whipped in a cross from the left only for Aly Cissokho to knock it into the back of his own net – 3-0 down, 36 minutes played, Arsenal had the three points in the bag before the interval.

It was a quieter second 45 minutes with the Gunners controlling the game and ensured they kept a clean sheet as well.
