Do these 10 Gunners deserve the chop this summer?

|

Arsenal badgeArsenal are reportedly set for a clear out this summer, with 10 names thought to be on the exit list.

Lukasz Fabianski, Andrey Arshavin, Sebastien Squillaci, Nicklas Bendtner, Park Chu-Young, Marouane Chamakh, Denilson, Andre Santos, Vito Mannone and Johan Djourou are the names on the list. But do they deserve to be shown the door?

Let’s start with Fabianski. The 27-year-old goalkeeper has not made a single appearance for The Gunners this season and has, in the past, expressed his desire to leave the club after falling down the pecking order behind both Wojciech Szczesny and Vito Mannone. The Pole requested a loan move away from The Emirates during the January transfer window but was unable to seal a deal after being sidelined with injury. Fabianski is definitely on his way out of the club this summer and I don’t blame him to be honest. He has no chance of challenging Szczesny for his spot so we would be better off getting off our books.

Keep or Sell – Sell

Arshavin – Despite his obvious technical ability and skill, the Russian forward has fallen out-of-favour with Arsene Wenger and a majority of the fans. His last appearance for us came against Chelsea last month where he played only 16 minutes. He has made 11 appearances for us this season, starting only two, these coming in the Capital One Cup. Though I believe he is technically brilliant and offers us something different, his time at Arsenal certainly looks up, as he is rarely seen these days.

Keep or Sell – Sell

Squillaci – Don’t know why he is still on our books. The Frenchman has made just seven appearances in the last two seasons and is behind pretty much everyone in the pecking order. Do we really need him on our books anymore?

Keep or Sell – Sell

Bendtner – The Denmark international wants to leave the club, yet Wenger believes he still has a future at The Emirates. In the past two seasons, Bendtner has struggled to get games at Arsenal and as such been loaned out to Sunderland and more recently Juventus. He oozes confidence, yet he hasn’t done anything special to prove his worth to the team and several fans. However, The Gunners lack attacking options and could well be apart of the line-up next season. Will surely have clubs chasing him if he is placed on the transfer list this summer.

Keep or Sell – Keep, but only if Chamakh goes.

Put Wenger on that list and it is perfect.

Wenger is the man. I do not think anyone else would do any better with the board that Arsenal have. He is a true representative of Arsenal and also what can be achieved by confidence. The list is good. All can go however I think Bentner has a bit more to show.
