Arsenal alerted over £6M Bilbao star

Arsenal could potentially snap up Athletic Bibao winger Markel Susaeta for just £6 million this summer, according to The Sun.

But is there any need for the Gunners to pursue the Bilbao star?

Well the 24-year-old only has a year left to run on his current deal and although he is rated at around £15 million by the Basque club, the Spaniard could leave for just a fraction of that this summer.

Susaeta apparently caught the eye after his two impressive displays in the Europa League against Manchester United, who are also said to be monitoring the skilful wide man.

However, it is thought that both Premier League clubs could face some stern competition for his services from Real Madrid, especially if the La Liga leaders lose Angel Maria Di Maria to Chelsea.

PSG and Chelsea are also understood to be keeping an eye on Susaeta, who has netted and created 10 goals in 50 appearances so far this season.

The Bilbao winger has wonderful technique and skill, as well as and eye for goal, but I don’t think we will hear of Arsenal making a move for him.

He would make a great addition and would certainly add more depth and competition to the squad, but I think Arsene Wenger has a lot of faith in his current wingers Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Gervinho, and will stick by them. We also have Lukas Podolski arriving in the summer that can also play out wide, so perhaps there is no need for us to sign Susaeta.

Besides, if Real and PSG are supposedly interested in his services then we stand very little chance of acquiring him, as the aforementioned clubs can offer higher wages to the player.

Here is a video of the winger in action:

Some one has to tell you that your site sucks. All you do is regurgitate news from the press. Get a life or write something with some real thought put in.

With Podolski added to Van Persie, Walcott, Gervinho and Oxlaide-Chamberlain and Ryo Miyaichi and Joel Campbell also potentially joining the first team, Arsenal may well be already set up-front next season. Miyaichi, Campbell and Chuks Aneke are high quality prospects who are not far away from being ready to play for the Arsenal first team and would cost far less than adding a player who would only block their progress.

Where Arsenal still needs to add another high-quality player is in the midfield–where a high-quality, creative attacking midfielder is needed–and at the back–where a versatile defender, like Vertonghen, who can play center back, fullback and back up Alex Song at the defensive midfield spot would shore up the lack of depth and insure against injury at more than one position.

American Gunner, I agree that with Podolski the front line should be fine and I agree with Vertonghen. I don’t think we need another creative midfileder though. We have Wilshere to come back and Rosicky playing well. I would also like to see Lansbury have a chance who for me has always seen a defence splitting pass. Song is also looking ever more creative and I would therefore bring in a powerful defensive midfielder who could sit alongside Song and cover in front of the back 4 if Song has ventured forward. This would be very useful in scrappy, physical away games such as the QPR one. Although Vermaelen had a bad day at the office there was a lot of space for their attacking midfielders in front of our back 4 for both goals. The lad M’Villa looks like the real deal and then we could let Coquelin have some games as well.
