Taking it easy

After Saturday’s game, Arsene Wenger talked of the players’ attitude:

‘Our performance was not good enough to win this kind of game, QPR had a little bit of extra special commitment.

‘Overall we can only congratulate QPR for their attitude and be unhappy with our own performance, What we produced on the day was not good enough.

‘Subconsciously something was missing. In the Premier League if you miss something on the commitment front you are beaten. That is what happened.’

After seven wins on the bounce, a reality check is expected. All level headed fans expect that. I just get concerned that we may slip back to our old ways thinking we can just rock up against the lesser lights.

You have to turn up for every game no matter who you are playing and our record against London’s two tiers of football is testament to the fact we don’t do this:

• Chav$/Spuds – Played 3, Won 2, For – 11, Against – 6

• Fulham/QPR – Played 4, Won 1, For – 4, Against – 5

Now I know it can be said that the likes of QPR and Fulham are likely to ‘raise their game’ against The Arsenal, but if we were playing to our ability this wouldn’t matter.

The attitude of the team is key to everything and even after the past few weeks, I still prepare to watch the games wondering ‘which’ Arsenal side will show up.

As Arsene said the Premier League doesn’t allow you to take it easy, which is what we cannot do for the next seven matches!!!
