The ongoing wait for new signings this summer has seen these Arsenal fans enter the stage of self-ridicule.
Having seen the club go close with approaches for the likes of William Saliba and Kieran Tierney, it is almost as if some Arsenal supporters can’t remember a time when the club weren’t linked with certain players.
And a tongue-in-cheek tweet evoked memories of previous long-standing Arsenal targets that never came to fruition, as supporters soothed the pain of enduring a fairly quiet transfer window by reminiscing over previous failed bids from down the years.
Eternal targets included the likes of Yann M’Vila, Karim Benzema and Gonzalo Higuain – previously linked with The Gunners in summers gone by (though almost bizarrely, no mention of Sebastien Frey) – while some supporters looked forward to poking fun at the likes of Saliba in years to come as the time to secure his transfer ticks towards August’s deadline.
Meanwhile, current Arsenal players were unable to escape mockery from the fans, with supporters also seemingly longing for players to go as well as join during this summer’s transfer window which is clearly still creating frustration amongst these Gunners fans:
