Arsenal fighting Premier League rivals for signature of £50m-rated winger

|

Arsenal boss Unai Emery is understood to be targeting a new winger in the closing weeks of the transfer market to cap off what has been a busy window.

The Gunners have already signed five new recruits in the form of Bernd Leno, Sokratis Papastahopoulos, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira, but Emery wants to improve his options in the final third.

According to The Sun, Arsenal are one of a number of Premier League clubs interested in the services of Rennes ace Ismaila Sarr after he caught the eye with his fine performances with Senegal at the World Cup in Russia.

Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City have all reportedly sent scouts to keep tabs on the 20-year-old, who Rennes are looking to earn around £50m for if a sale is to go ahead in the final weeks of the window.

Sarr’s agent Thierno Seydi confirmed the widespread interest in his client, stating:

“He is very fast with an excellent technique. He has the same qualities as Dembele of Barcelona. They are similar players.

“I have received many calls from English and German clubs and maybe even one from Italy. Many agents from the UK have called me proposing to work with them and Ismaïla to get him to the Premier League.

“One Italian agent asked to speak with Juventus. The price will be around 50-60m Euros.”
