AC Milan are trying to secure a deal for Udinese midfielder Jakub Jankto on loan, according to the Corriere Dello Sport.

Arsenal have been leading the race for the Czech Republic international in recent months with the player stating his interest in playing for a Premier League club.

The Rossoneri are apparently keen to tie up a deal for Jankto. The 21 year old would unlikely be allowed to leave Udinese for the San Siro unless there is a purchase option in the offer that Milan propose.

Whether the Gunners will consider hijacking the Italian club’s move by making their own bid for the midfielder, we will find out soon enough. As a left sided central midfielder, the obvious comparison would be with Jack Wilshere, but it is not known if the club’s contract negotiations with the England international could affect their interest in the Czech star.

Arsene Wenger’s side have been linked with signing the playmaker for close to two years, and have no doubt been monitoring the player’s development closely.

Jankto has been in excellent form for Udinese this season, having scored five goals and provided six assists in 21 games this campaign.
