Rangers will hold further talks with Arsenal this week over signing Marcus McGuane on loan until the end of the season, according to the Sun.
The holding midfielder has been on the radar of top European clubs such as Napoli, but the Gunners are hoping to placate the 18 year old’s desire for first team chances by sending him to play in Scottish football.
McGuane has been impressive playing for the club’s under 23 side this campaign. He scored twice whilst captaining the side in the 4-2 defeat to Everton back in September, and was given his first team debut a few days later in the Europa League match against BATE Borisov.
The England under 19 international then made a brief cameo appearance in the next group game against Red Star Belgrade, but he hasn’t featured in the senior team since then. Increased game time by heading out on loan should aid the player’s development but it will be interesting to see how he copes playing at a higher level.
