The agent of Boca Juniors winger Cristian Pavon has played down his client’s comments that he is considering leaving the Argentinian club.

Prior to Boca’s 1-0 defeat to arch rivals River Plate on Sunday, Pavon said he would consider his options, but speaking yesterday about the player, Fernando Hidalgo reiterated that Arsenal or any other club have not made a bid:

“There is no formal offer that has come to us, neither from Arsenal, nor from any English team, but there are a lot of rumours. What Cristian said was that he is oblivious to all kinds of negotiations, he is focused, and he does not participate so he does not have many things in his head.”

Pavon has a $37m (£26.5m) release clause in his contract that the Independent report the Gunners are willing to match. The 22 year old is likely to be just one of a number of wingers Arsenal are looking at as they seek to replace both Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott.

An alternative to the Argentinian international could be Brazilian international Lucas Moura. The Paris Saint-Germain star is reportedly available for a similar price, around €30m (£26.4m), and has a great deal more experience in European football, having played 229 times for PSG.
