Barcelona are confident of signing Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka on a free transfer, according to the Daily Mail‘s Spanish football correspondent Pete Jenson.
The German international told Kicker magazine over the weekend that he expects to make a decision on his future by the end of January, and Barca believe they have a good chance of sealing a move for the 22 year old at the end of the season.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City have all been linked with signing the midfielder, but clubs such as Bayern Munich and Juventus are also believed to be in the mix.
Barcelona’s general manager Pep Segura is said to have held talks with Goretzka a few weeks ago (most likely when Germany faced France SportBild believes), and the Catalan club are reportedly convinced that their signing on fee, along with the prospect of playing at the Camp Nou, will entice Goretzka into signing.
