Borussia Dortmund want to replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud, according to Le10 Sport.
The French publication say that the France international was the Bundesliga club’s number one target in the summer to strengthen up front, and they say they will make another attempt to sign the 31 year old in the January transfer window, if they do sell Aubameyang.
Giroud has hinted that he may need to leave in January in order to stake his claim for a place in France’s World Cup squad. He told L’Equipe at the weekend that he will look for the right solution, and will consider the opportunities that may arise.
In response to the comments, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said he is hopeful that the Frenchman will stay until the end of the season, and that the forward will be given chances to start with the Gunners playing every few days over the Christmas period.
