Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri is still optimistic that he can secure a move to a “big club” before the close of the transfer window.
Barcelona reportedly pulled out of a move for the 26 year old earlier this month, but the Ivorian international revealed that if a move to the Catalan club doesn’t work out, a switch to a team like Arsenal would be just as good. In an interview with Mundo Deportivo (translated by the Daily Star) Seri said:
“Is the Barca move dead? I want to be optimistic and think that there are still options. Let the two clubs talk quietly again and come to an agreement. We are not talking about any club, where you are going to sign[just] for money. I want to sign for big European clubs, like Juventus, PSG, Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool.”
Considering Arsenal’s abject display in the middle of the park against Liverpool yesterday, a move for a player like Seri should be seen as of vital importance before the end of the transfer window. His seven goals and nine assists last season for Nice are the type of numbers the Gunners could do with currently.
Unfortunately it seems that Arsenal are not in the position to buy with the Guardian revealing that the club need to offload a number of fringe players before making a move for Seri.
