A meeting between Sampdoria sporting director Daniele Prade and an agent representing Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere took place yesterday, according to Calciomercato.com.
Claudio Vigorelli was ostensibly meeting Prade to discuss another player he is representing, former Newcastle full back Davide Santon who Sampdoria are interested in signing from Inter Milan, but Calciomercato also suggest that Vigorelli would have also discussed Wilshere’s situation with Prade during the talks.
Sampdoria’s first offer of €6m plus €1.5m in add-ons was rejected by Arsenal, and it seems there is a sizeable gap between the Serie A side and the Gunners’s valuation at the moment.
With cash rich Turkish club Antalyaspor now added into the mix as well, Arsenal may be hoping for a bidding war to ensue so that a higher transfer fee can be gained from the negotiations.
Considering the very low initial offer from Sampdoria however, it doesn’t look likely the Italian club will be in a position to match the Gunners’s demands.
