Arsenal are ready to battle Manchester City for the signing of Monaco midfielder Fabinho.

Having secured the services of Alexandre Lacazette, Arsene Wenger is now hoping to muscle in on both Manchester City and Manchester United for Fabinho’s signature.

The 23-year-old Brazilian was in impressive form for Monaco last season, making a total of 49 appearances in all competitions and scoring 10 goals along the way, helping the French club lift the Ligue 1 title and reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.

According to France Football (via The Sun), Fabinho is now set for a move away from Monaco, but the Ligue 1 club will refuse to sell him to rivals Paris Saint-Germain.

Wenger does have a number of options already in midfield, but with the futures of Jack Wilshere and possibly the likes of Francis Coquelin in doubt this summer, perhaps the Frenchman sees Fabinho as a suitable replacement for either or both.
