Arsenal are considering whether to make a move for Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland, according to Evening Standard journalist James Olley.

The Gunners were reportedly interested in Sunderland’s Jordan Pickford but were put off by the Black Cats’ £30m valuation which was met by Everton. Manager Arsene Wenger is believed to be keen to give Petr Cech strong competition for a first team place with Emiliano Martinez being retained as third choice.

The Standard say that David Ospina will likely leave for Fenerbahce in a £5m transfer although reports in Turkey suggest that the deal has stalled on the transfer fee.

Wojciech Szczesny’s move to Juventus also looks to have hit the buffers, with the Sun reporting Juve have offered just £4m for the Polish international. Any move for Butland may have to wait until Arsenal can sell at least two of the four first team goalkeepers that are currently on the club’s books.
