Manchester City are leading the race to sign Alexis Sanchez this summer, according to reports in Chile.

The 28-year-old striker will have just one year left on his existing deal at the Emirates this summer and there is growing concerns that he could be looking for an exit following Arsenal’s poor season.

His contract situation and visible frustration on the pitch have alerted many top European clubs, including Inter Milan, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid, but it appears that Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are frontrunners for the Chilean’s signature.

Chilean outlet Cooperativa say Sanchez’s relationship with Guardiola, whom he played under at Barcelona, could see him make the switch to the Etihad this summer.

Arsenal are desperate to hold on to their talismanic striker but have reportedly put a minimum £50million price-tag on Sanchez, should they decide to sell him.

Nearly all the potential suitors mentioned above would be willing to fork out the requested £50million asking price, including Manchester City.

Arsene Wenger has moved to claim that Sanchez wants to stay at Arsenal but has shelved his contract situation until the end of the season so that the team could focus on the remainder of the campaign.
