Manchester United are eyeing up a shock move for Arsenal’ Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer, according to reports.
The England international, 23, is out of contract in 2018 and his future at Arsenal remains in doubt.
It was reported by The Sun earlier this month that the midfielder will not sign a new deal with the Gunners, despite being regarded by many as a key player for the future, including Arsene Wenger.
With his contract winding down, Chamberlain has caught the attention of Manchester City and Liverpool in recent months, and it is now believed that Manchester United are the latest to express their interest in the former Southampton man.
United are once again likely to spend big once again this summer and Jose Mourinho may see Chamberlain’s versatility and potential as something that could enhance his squad for next season.
Chamberlain has started eight of Arsenal’s last 10 matches in all competitions and has been but one of Wenger’s better performers as the Gunners are currently in a rut of poor results. It will be interesting to see whether the winger’s latest run of starts in the side will convince him that he does have a future at the Emirates and signs a new deal to remain beyond summer 2018.
