Manchester City edge ahead of Arsenal in battle for Spanish star

|

Manchester City are now the front runners to sign Real Madrid midfielder Isco, according to the Mirror.

The Spaniard has been heavily linked with Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs in recent months but it seems Pep Guardiola’s side have edged ahead of their rivals. City boss Guardiola is reportedly a long term admirer of the 24-year-old, and the Real star is said to be keen on a move to English football.

The midfielder has become increasingly frustrated at not being picked by Real boss Zinedine Zidane for the club’s biggest games and the Spanish media have reported that contract talks have been delayed until the end of the season when a decision will be made on whether to offer the player a new deal.

Isco’s current contract expires in 2018, and next summer will be the last opportunity for Real to sell the Spanish international before he is available on a pre-contract agreement next January.
