Arsenal are ready to launch a bid in the region of £13million for Sporting Lisbon goalkeeper Rui Patricio when the summer transfer window opens, according to 12up.com.
Petr Cech has come under pressure in recent weeks while David Opsina’s future at Arsenal remains in doubt following limited opportunities under Arsene Wenger this season. Meanwhile, Wojciech Szczesny, currently on his second season-long loan spell at Roma, is also considering his options this summer.
Several shot-stoppers have been linked with a move to Arsenal this summer and Patricio is the latest to be added to the list.
The 29-year-old, whose contract expires in 2022, has improved over recent seasons and seen him become Portugal’s number one.
With Sporting anticipating offers this summer from some of Europe’s top clubs following Patricio’s progression, the goalkeeper himself may find it difficult to turn down the advances of those interested in him.
Patricio has been a regular for Sporting this season, starting 31 matches in all competitions so far.
