Rival’s lowball offer could be chance for Arsenal to sign defender

|

Inter Milan are refusing to pay Wolfsburg left back Ricardo Rodriguez’s release clause, according to calciomercato.com.

Reports in the Italian press over the past few months have suggested that the Swiss international had his heart set on a move to Serie A but it seems that an agreement for the player could be quite a way off.

Arsenal and Chelsea have also been mentioned as possible destinations for the 24 year old, and this latest news could provide the London clubs with some hope that the full back could still be available for a summer move to the Premier League.

Rodriguez’s release clause is reportedly €22million (£19m) but Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio is said to be prepared to only pay €15m (£13m) plus bonuses for the player.

The £6m difference is a significant amount, and with Rodriguez still contracted to Wolfsburg until 2019, Inter will certainly have to up their offer or the Gunners could well be back in the reckoning for the defender.
