Arsene Wenger has confirmed that defender Laurent Koscielny is a major doubt for the FA Cup fifth round tie against Sutton United on Monday night.
The 31 year old had to be substituted four minutes into the second half against Bayern Munich during the week after sustaining a reported hamstring injury.
At his press conference today, Wenger said the muscle problem required a scan to indicate whether he could play for the Gunners against the Non-League side in a few days time.
With the club ten points behind Chelsea in the Premier League table, and all but out of the Champions League after the heavy loss at the Allianz Arena, the FA Cup is Wenger’s last chance of silverware this season, and he told reporters that he would put out a “normal team” for the match.
Sutton United’s pitch is synthetic, and the basic facilities at Gander Green Lane will provide a unique test for Arsenal.
