Arsenal and Juventus are both keen to sign Red Bull Salzburg defender Dayot Upamecano, according to calciomercato.com.

The Gunners tried to sign the young Frenchman before he signed for the Austrian side back in 2015, but the player rejected overtures from the London club, along with Manchester United and Bayern Munich, to join Salzburg for €2.2million.

Upamecano did not initially play for the Austrian Bundesliga side’s first-team however, and was loaned out to their feeder side FC Liefering last season to get some first team experience. He made 16 appearances for the Austrian First Division side last campaign.

Now back with Red Bull Salzburg, Upamecano has become a first-team regular at the age of just 18, playing both in central defence and as a holding midfielder.

So far this season he has made 20 appearances, including four starts in the Europa League. His impressive displays have now caught the attention of Juve, and the Gunners will have a fight on their hands if they want to sign the French Under-19 international.
