According to the Italian outlet gazzetta dello sport, (via The Daily Star,) Arsenal are amongst a host of European clubs looking at the Atalanta defender Mattia Caldara.
The Italian side have been the surprise package in Serie A so far this season with them lying in fifth in the table despite many thinking they’d be much nearer the bottom of the league and Caldara has been a big part of the reason that.
The 22-year-old has demonstrated his ability to read the game well whilst he’s also suggested he’s only going to get better with his improving performances and that appears to have alerted the Gunners to him ahead of the January window.
The Gunners look set to face set stiff competition for his signature when the window opens, though, with the likes of Juventus and Napoli linked so Arsene Wenger will have to work his magic if they are going to get the deal done.
Caldara may not be the only January signing for the Gunners, though, and with that in mind here are three players we think the London sign should sign as soon as possible…
