AC Milan and Napoli target unsettled Gunner

|

Olivier Giroud has emerged as a transfer target for Serie A duo AC Milan and Napoli after the Frenchman’s recent comments suggesting he has grown frustrated at Arsenal.

The former Montpellier man is unhappy at the start he’s made this season and, most importantly, losing his starting role upfront to Alexis Sanchez:

‘I won’t lie, there have been times I’ve been disappointed and not happy with my situation. But the coach knows that. He’s the one who makes the choices.’

Italian website Sportmediaset now claim both Milan and Napoli are keeping tabs on Giroud’s situation at Arsenal.

It’s believed both Italian clubs are in need of a striker, with Milan contemplating the sale of Carlos Bacca in January, and Napoli need to add to their frontline after losing Arek Milik to a serious knee injury whilst on international duty with Poland.

Giroud, 30, has only managed 92 minutes of Premier League football and has scored three goals in eight outings for the Gunners so far this season.

The French striker is expected to hold talks with Arsene Wenger about his current situation at the club, but did say he is prepared to fight for his place in the starting line-up.

However, Giroud also admitted that he is likely to leave when his contract expires – at the end of next season.

I can’t see Wenger allowing the sale of Giroud, not at least until the end of the season. If the French forward continues to be a benchwarmer this season, then it is possible that he could ask to be transfer listed.
