Arsenal are eyeing up a move for FC Porto’s young starlet Andre Silva, according to media outlet O Jogo.

The 20-year-old has been in scintillating form for the Portuguese side, having already netted five times in seven league games this season.

The young forward broke into the first team last season after a few years with the Porto B side, and scored his first senior goal in a 4-0 win over Boavista in May.

Unsurprisingly, Silva’s good form for his club, and indeed his country, where he’s netted four times in three games for the Under-21’s and earned himself a call-up to the senior squad, has attracted interest from Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

The report suggests that the Gunners boss sent scouts to watch the 20-year-old in action against Leicester City in the UEFA Champions League last week, a match the Premier League champions won 1-0.

There certainly appears to be interest from the Gunners, but they might consider their options as Silva has just signed a new long-term deal at Porto, which is believed to have a £52.8 million release clause, a fee Arsenal are unlikely to want to meet.

Although only Arsenal have been reported to be interested in Silva, it’s clear that if he continues his recent run of form, he will be a man in demand over the next few years.
