Four-time Olympic champion Mo Farah would love to work as a fitness coach at Arsenal in the future, the long-distance runner has told the Sunday Times Magazine.

The 33-year-old won both 5,000m and 10,000 gold at this year’s Olympic Games in Rio de Janiero, thus defending both titles he won so brilliantly in London four years ago.

Farah has been an Arsenal fan from a very young age, and would be open to a role at the Emirates Stadium when he retires from athletics.

He told the Sunday Times Magazine: ‘One thing I really love is football and I have a good relationship with Arsenal.

‘I started supporting them when I first came to Britain as a kid. I liked the way they played. They also had a lot of players from African backgrounds.

‘One day, I’d love to be able to work for them, maybe as a fitness coach.’

The British sporting legend knows a thing or two about how intense training needs to be to achieve his goals, and the way he is able to soak up the pressure during his races before sprinting the final lap is testament to his incredible physical and mental strength.

When Farah hangs up his spikes remains to be seen, although next year’s World Championships in London and the Olympics in Tokyo in 2020 are likely to be his last on the big stage.

The 33-year-old is widely regarded as one of the best British sportsmen of all time, and getting a role at Arsenal would surely benefit the squad of players at the Emirates Stadium.
