Wenger hails Arsenal star’s improvement

|

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has stated that Hector Bellerin has improved significantly over recent months and continues to get better with every Premier League game he plays.

The Spanish full-back joined the Gunners from Barcelona as a youngster, with the starlet initially expected to play as a winger in North London.

However, Wenger has moulded Bellerin into a deadly right-back, with the Spain international making this berth his own at the Emirates Stadium.

This has led Mathieu Debuchy, Calum Chambers and Carl Jenkinson on the sidelines, with the current incumbent of the position one of the best right-backs in the Premier League.

The 21-year-old has played an important role in Arsenal’s strong start to the new season and starred in the 3-0 win over Chelsea on Saturday evening.

Wenger has been singing Bellerin’s praises and admits that the young star is not even the finished product as yet.

“I believe Hector is absolutely growing with every single game,” the Frenchman told the club’s official website.

“He is dangerous going forward but he has also gained a lot defensively.

“He can cover the centre back as well and that was not a quality he had when he started, but he is an intelligent boy and I think he will be a top, top-level player.”
