Man United legend slams Arsenal and Wenger

|

Former Manchester United striker Andy Cole has stated that he does not think that Arsenal will be in Premier League title contention this season and has slammed Arsene Wenger for not spending more money in the transfer window.

The Gunners have been the nearly-men in the title race in recent seasons, with a second-placed finish last term.

Despite ended up as runners-up, many of the Emirates Stadium faithful felt it was a missed opportunity with Chelsea and the Manchester clubs not at their best.

Arsenal will hope to be in the running for major silverware again this term and the summer additions of Granit Xhaka, Lucas Perez and Shkodran Mustafi have bolstered the spine of the North London team.

Despite this, Cole has stated that he does not see the Gunners as one of 2016-17’s challengers and has criticised Wenger for his prudent approach in the transfer market.

“Arsenal’s best chance of winning the Premier League was last season. Will they win it this season? No.

“They will be involved in the mix but the more people or experts who say Arsenal need this player or that player then Arsene decides he doesn’t need them.

“Arsenal might have missed the boat.”
