Former Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini is closing in on a move to Crystal Palace, with the French battler said to have had a medical at the London club, as reported on Sky Sports.
The veteran was on the Emirates Stadium outfit’s books in two separate stints and became something of a fans’ favourite due to the amount of effort he put in and his winner’s mentality.
However, with a multitude of options in the centre of midfield for Arsene Wenger to select from currently, Flamini was released by the Gunners over the course of the summer.
Palace sold long-serving stalwart Mile Jedinak to Aston Villa earlier this summer and as such are a player down in the boiler room.
The report suggests that Flamini is viewed as a like-for-like replacement for the Australia international and is on the cusp of signing for the Eagles.
Playing against the Frenchman would be a strange experience for many of the Arsenal squad but most of the Emirates Stadium outfit will surely wish Flamini well in his new challenge.
