Pep GuardiolaArsene Wenger is reportedly close to agreeing a new deal to extend his stay at Arsenal beyond summer 2017 – potentially ending any hope of seeing Pep Guardiola at the Emirates.

Wenger has 18 months left to run on his existing deal, and with news that Guardiola is on the market at the end of the season, there was growing hope amongst the Emirates faithful that the former Barcelona manager could be heading to Arsenal to replace the legendary Frenchman. So much so, that some were even suggesting that if Wenger was to win the Premier League title this season, which is worth betting on with this promo, he would maybe step down to allow Guardiola to take over.

However, The Sun now claims that Wenger is set to put pen to paper on a new contract, meaning there would be no chance of seeing Pep at the Emirates anytime soon, thus leaving the majority of the Arsenal faithful left disappointed.

Wenger has revolutionised the club and even football itself since his arrival back in 1996. But some believe a change is needed and see Guardiola as the ideal replacement.

We all thought that after twenty years at Arsenal Mr Wenger has become a Gooner and he will put Arsenal interest first . Arsenal can not find a better successor th Wenger than Guardiola . Wenger should have taken the initiative to convince Guardiola to take over Arsenal especially after Guardiola refused to sign a new deal at Byrn Munich and said it loud and clear that he wants to manage in the premier league and particularly in London and he was reluctant to respond positively to Chelsea and Manchester city appeal . We hope Wenger consider this and not sign an extension that will deprive Arsenal from getting the best manager around, because Arsenal fans around the world will not forgive Wenger for that.

Wenger new deal depends on the out come at the end of the season, most especially the Barclays premier league title.

Wenger is a selfish person, he will not withdraw because he wants the limelight, wont share with pep.

I’m torn. I think Pep is the perfect replacement and more. I don’t think #silentstan would short change Pep like he does Wenger. I’m sure #silentstan does not want Wenger to leave before he finishes building his NFL stadium in Los Angeles. Wenger will take all the blame for our lack of spending and deflect attention from #silentstan. Hiring Pep would mean big spending for 3 years which #silentstan can’t afford to do right now.
My only downside with Pep is he is not longterm and Wenger could possibly stay longer than Pep. But Wenger will not beat Pep when he assembles his solid team and we keep fielding our unhealthy midfield of loyal debutants. SMH
