Victor WanyamaArsenal could land Victor Wanyama – but only if he fails to sign a new contract with Southampton by the summer.

Arsene Wenger has already acquired the services of midfielder Mohamed Elneny, but despite this, reports are suggesting the Frenchman is still keen to sign Wanyama from Southampton.

The 24-year-old is contracted to Southampton until 2017 and it’s believed talks are ungoing over an improves long-term contract despite interest from both Arsenal and Spurs.

However, the Daily Telegraph claims that the Saints will look to sell Wanyama at the end of the season if the robust midfielder fails to put pen to paper on a new deal by the summer, as they don’t want to lose him on a free.

Although many would view Wanyama as an ideal signing for the Gunners, it’s highly unlikely that Arsenal will make a move for him this month, with Wenger having enough midfield options at his disposal.
