Arsenal have launched a £44.7 million bid for Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to a reliable Spanish journalist.
The Gunners have recently been linked with a £42 million for the Gabon international, and speculation increased further after Dortmund’s chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke said ‘the club are not dependent on anyone’. Aubameyang then failed to turn up to training, which led to more conjecture, but this was quickly dismissed by claims suggesting the 26-year-old had ‘personal problems’ – rumour quashed.
However, it is now believed the Gunners have table a whopping £44.7 million offer for Aubameang’s services, this according to Kike Marin, who was the first reporter to break Arsenal’s deal for Alexis Sanchez two years ago.
This morning at 10:18am, Marin took to his Twitter account and said:
‘Confirmado: @Arsenal ofrece €60 M al Borussia Dortmund por Aubameyang, primero en la Bota de Oro con 18 goles.’
The translation is very clear, and many will now be wondering if this move will actually happen before the transfer window closes at the end of the month – even Aubameyang’s team-mate Matthias Ginter fears it could happen:
‘We all hope he’ll (Aubameyang) stay.’
The former Saint-Etienne striker would be a great signing and could be the player to get us over the line this season, making it worth using your Match Book welcome bonus on the Gunners to win the league.
