Inaki WilliamsArsenal have missed the chance to sign Inaki Williams for a mere £15.2 million this month after the Athletic Bilbao forward put pen to paper on a new deal.

The 21-year-old Spaniard was reportedly being tracked by the Gunners and Liverpool this month, with Arsene Wenger supposedly sending his scouts to watch the speed demon in action this season in their 1-0 win over Villarreal last week.

However, Williams, who has provided 10 goals and three assists in 24 appearances so far this season, has all but ended speculation of him leaving Bilbao this month by signing a new five-year deal which has seen his release clause of £15.2 million rise to £38.1 million.

Although Williams will remain at Bilbao for the imminent future, Arsenal – or any other club interested in the Spaniard Under-21 international for that matter – can still land the speedy forward at the end of the season after the La Liga side somewhat left the door open for a potential bid…all they have to do is table £38.1 million.
