NordtveitAccording to reports in Germany, as reported by the Daily Mirror, Arsenal are interested in signing former Gunner Havard Nordtveit.

The 25-year-old defensive midfielder was once at Arsenal as a youth team player but never made the grade and was eventually shipped out in 2011 after three years at the club.

But with the January transfer window just around the corner and Arsene Wenger short of options in midfield, it seems the Frenchman is keen to bring back Nordtveit, who currently plays for Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Norway international has made 22 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga side so far this season but only has six months remaining on his current deal with the German outfit.

Monchengladbach are, however, keen to tie the midfielder down to a new deal, but interest is mounting, with Everton, Leicester City and Borussia Dortmund vying for his signature as well.

Although Nordtveit would be a decent signing for the Gunners, many would question if the Norwegian midfielder is the player to help them reach their domestic goals this season.
